About Our School

Florence Bowser Elementary was named for Florence Bowser, a noted educator who was instrumental in having the school built in 1920 with a grant from the Julins Rosenwald Fund. The original building (no longer occupied) is still on site, and is marked as a historical site.

The school houses preschool for special needs students, Early Start, kindergarten, and first grade students. After finishing first grade, students will attend Driver Elementary School for grades second through fifth.

Vision- The vision of Suffolk Public Schools and Florence Bowser Elementary School is that all students will become life-long learners equipped with the skills, knowledge and attitudes to succeed as productive citizens in a local, national and global society.

Mission-  Our mission at Florence Bowser Elementary School is to assist children by providing challenging and enriching learning in a safe and nurturing environment.  We strive to accommodate different learning styles and encourage diversity.  Our goal is to produce progressive citizens who are eager and equipped to compete in the modern world.
